Why should your business differentiate from your competitors?

Differentiation is, simply, a way of establishing a competitive advantage as part of your business strategy. Differentiation happens when you deliver better services to your customers at the same price as your competitors, giving you an immediate advantage. Everywhere you come, there are competitors. If you want to be successful in business, it is essential to differentiate from the competitors.

In a global environment, there are many ways for you to differentiate your products: cutting the prices, more unique features, cheap labors or even the new managerial operations. As for me, fisrt of all, if you want to persuade customers to buy your products, it is very important to know what customers want by doing research. The organization can interview the customer, use the questionnaire and then try to look the product from customers’ point of view. Together with it, the organization also needs to investigate the competitors, identify the rivals’ strategy to deal with to keep the own market share. Finally, make sure that the differentiations of the products are known well. The more unique your product is, the more customers want to buy it.

To sum up, differentiation is about demonstrating that you can deliver more than what the customer wants. Once you can make your product unique, you will succeed in the business.
